Classical Pilates Education
UPPilates Burlingame supports the continued study and preservation of the Classical Pilates method by providing opportunities for mentorship, observation, workshops, and teacher education. Our goal is to help teachers and serious students deepen their understanding of the work while maintaining the integrity of the original system.
Mentorship
We provide mentorship for new and developing instructors who want to continue learning and refining the Classical Pilates method in a supportive and professional environment. Teachers are able to deepen their understanding of the work while developing confidence in their teaching.
Workshops
Throughout the year we host workshops with respected teachers and teacher trainers, offering opportunities for continuing education and deeper study of the Classical Pilates method.
Our primary teachers include Dorothee Vandewalle, Master Trainer of the M.A.T. (Metropolitan Pilates) Teacher Training Program, and Chris Robinson, a highly respected Classical Pilates teacher, author of The Core Connection, and direct protégé of Romana Kryzanowska. With decades of experience teaching athletes, instructors, and clients around the world, Chris brings a deep understanding of the classical system and its practical application.
Observation Hours
A great way to learn how to teach Pilates is through observation. If you are looking to complete observation hours or deepen your understanding of the method, contact us for fees and to arrange your observation time.
Pilates Intensives
Pilates intensives are offered twice a year for aspiring and newer instructors who want to deepen their knowledge of the method and refine their teaching skills. These focused sessions provide an opportunity to study the apparatus work, explore programming, and gain greater confidence in the Classical Pilates system.
Certification Support
UPPilates Burlingame supports individuals who are interested in pursuing a full comprehensive Classical Pilates certification. Preparing your body and developing a deeper understanding of the method before applying to a certification program is an important step toward success.
Most Classical Pilates certification programs require, and we highly recommend, at least one year of consistent Pilates training in your body before applying. This preparation helps you enter the program with a stronger foundation, making the learning process more effective and increasing your chances of successfully completing the program.
Our recommended certification program is through Metropolitan Pilates in Seattle, led by Dorothee Vandewalle. Their program is known for its intimate setting, high-quality instruction, and comprehensive approach to Classical Pilates teacher training.
